The following sites have all been flown at some point in the past but are now unavailable and must not be flown without permission from the respective landowners.
1. Black Hambledon / Kepwick
Direction: South west to north west
Availability: Withdrawn. No re-negotiation at present.

2. Brotton
Direction: North east
Availability: Withdrawn

3. Castleton Rigg
Direction: East
Availability: Withdrawn. Model aircraft fliers have an agreement with the landowner, Lord Downe, which insists upon their reporting any hang gliders on pain of loosing the site.

4. Hasty Bank (south face)
Direction: South
Availability: Withdrawn.

5. Fremington Edge
Direction: South west.
Availability: Withdrawn. Negotiations with the landowners have previously obtained permission to fly on a trial basis, but this has been withdrawn. Flown recently with permission by some members flying outside of the club.
6. Ingleby Bowl
Direction: West
Availability: Withdrawn. Moor top is owned by Bass Charington but managed by Grinkle Park Estates. The road (track) from Bank Foot is a public right of way. Pilots will be chased by the gamekeeper if taking hang gliders or (presumably) paragliders onto the moor.

7.MountGrace Priory
Direction: West to North-West
Availability: Flying is opposed by Lady Bell, owner of the bottom fields and hillside. For occasional flying only.

8. Lonsdale Bowl
Direction: South West to South East
Availability: Turbulent site was used in the early days for training flights. Model Aircraft!

9. Roseberry Topping
Direction: Mainly SE or NW to N
Availability: Not considered to be a soarable site. Quite a popular site in the early days, but it is of little use to the club due to the difficult climb and the lack of ridge.

10. Beast Cliff
Direction: East North East
Availability: The site is seldom flown and is not recommended. Sheer sea cliff with no bottom landing. Suffers from severe rotor at take-off. Access is possible by flying from the nearby cliffs at Robin Hood's Bay. The secondary ridge is overgrown and dangerous to land on. Recovery by the emergency services may be necessary.

11. Tow Law Fell
Direction: North West
Availability: Site owned by National Trust, access is not permitted. Wind generators now make this site un-usable. Site was known to be extremely turbulent at times.

12. High Applegarth (Whitcliffe Scar)
Direction: South and Southwest
Availability: This site has not been flown for some years and was known to be turbulent. This site lies within a DANGER AREA. Tel: (01748) ****** to check on status of Danger Area.

Comments: Anyone who is able to help with obtaining permission to fly these or other sites is requested to contact the committee for support. We would like to see the list of withdrawn sites shrink, not grow. Take care of our existing sites to avoid them increasing the number of withdrawn sites.
